I am reading a book by author Robert Schwartz titled Your Soul’s Plan. It’s about the pre-birth soul plan. (As I was writing this, I realized that this idea is already in my “10 Ways To Joy” #10: Treat each moment and each situation as if you had planned it.)
Schwartz makes the case that we actually did plan it things in our lives – prior to our birth – and we planned along with other spiritual beings in our group of souls that travel together.
He says that it is not as important to know exactly which difficult parts of our lives were planned, as much as it is to think through why a situation might have been planned for us. In most cases it is to learn a lesson, to experience something wholly and completely.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot – difficulties in business, in relationships, and so on. What would I learn from a relationship where I am not valued? I’d learn how much more being valued and appreciated actually is. What would I learn from a business that is losing money and being challenged from all sides? I might learn how much more peaceful a non-business-focused life would be. And I would learn how to prioritize the people and relationships in my life, rather than the money or status. Having this knowledge and perspective makes difficult times that much richer and more meaningful. And more bearable too.
And with current events? What could the COVID19 pandemic be here to teach us? How much more wonderful human connections truly are! And how the relationships in our lives need to take priority over the “things to accomplish” mindset.
